Tärnsjö Garveri - Sustainable Swedish Leather: Full-Grain, Vegetable-Tanned, Crafted to Last
We chose to work with Tärnsjö Garveri because they’ve been crafting premium vegetable-tanned leather since 1873, with a deep commitment to quality, the environment, and heritage.
In today’s world, the word “genuine” has lost its meaning—genuine leather often has little to do with real, lasting quality. Most leather today is chrome-tanned: a faster, cheaper process that compromises durability and harms the environment.
Tärnsjö Garveri takes a different approach: natural, full-grain leather, tanned slowly and responsibly using vegetable tannins. We exclusively use their hides—some of which show scars or a live edge. To us, these marks are a sign of authenticity, a reminder that leather is a living material that will develop a beautiful patina and last long enough to be passed down to the next generation.
We also believe in supporting local craftsmanship and helping preserve a dying industry in Sweden—Tärnsjö Garveri is one of the last remaining vegetable tanneries in the country, and their work deserves to be celebrated and sustained.
